Voter Information
After the original bond proposal narrowly failed to pass last October, the Whitefish School District sought to carefully redesign the current bonds based on valuable input from our community. Voters indicated that there was still support for the high school expansion to address increased enrollment, however, the academic expansion and the athletic complex improvements were viewed as two different projects requiring unique bond issues.
While construction costs have gone up with inflation since the previous bond election, resulting in higher estimated costs for the building expansion, the proposed Athletic Improvements bond has been reduced in scope per voter feedback, which means that even if both bonds are approved, the total financial impact on taxpayers will be lower than the original bond proposed last fall.
The bonds on the ballot for 2024 are a reflection of thoughtful research on the part of our school district and school board members in an attempt to respond to the primary cares and concerns of voters while achieving an optimal environment for Whitefish students. While it is not possible at this time to check every box for each constituent, we believe these bonds represent a move in the right direction to provide the holistic educational setting that will permit Whitefish students to flourish and they deserve your YES votes.
